Urban Gladiator

I've recently discovered that one of the best ways to keep a basic outfit fresh is to opt for a really cool pair of sandals instead of your usual sneakers. Especially here in Manila, it's sort of become a no-brainer for me lately to reach for them whenever I go out. My recent addiction to mandals (or sandals for men) has led me to discover the very cool local designer Rani Tolentino who runs Ranroe Official (Check it out here). I was immediately drawn for their avant garde but wearable aesthetic and got myself the ones I'm wearing in this post. It's quite hard to describe other than a cross between gladiator and ninja sandals. Either way, it's a head-turner, literally. Random people at the mall actually stopped just to look at them. Haha! Though I agree it can be a bit intimidating trying out unique designs like this, it's easy to balance out with an all-black outfit that it can easily blend into instead of being too loud. Understated is always the way to go, after all! :)

  3. Totally love the shoes and the bracelet too. Gladiator shoes were such a rage a few years back and still I love them too!

  4. I do not think I could ever wear sandals like that because they are too distinctly stylish. I prefer simpler styles of footwear, not those too eye-catching.

  6. Sandals were used during pre-historic times to cover and protect the ancient people of their feet. Those sandals may be made of the hides of animals. I didn't how did they got their own color. I know they dyed it. Your own style of pair of sandals make a perfect blend with your black apparel.

  9. Woo... interesting looking sandals~ It's indeed intimidating. I think for ladies, we get to wear nail polish to make it look slightly better. For guys, it might be odd initially..
