5 Easy Tips To Dress For Summer

The crazy summer calls for light fabric, breezy shorts, and pastel hues. Needless to say, that kind of fashion has always been right up my alley! I really can't be one of those bloggers who still manage to wear blazers and leather jackets in this weather, which is why I've decided to share my quick and easy tips to dress for success in this heat!

#TipsForUSTArkiFreshies Part 4: The Cutoff

Capping off my Arki series with an additional guide! I can't believe I totally forgot about one of the most crucial things about arki life in UST: The Cutoff! Anyways, if you're a freshman, then you are probably among the hundreds that are absolutely terrified about surviving the cutoff! I definitely was. It was like this awful weight on my shoulders that was there and not there at the same time. #MentalTorture :(

With that in mind, here are three important things you have to remember as a freshman! It's not long or hard to remember at all. And I think knowing them by heart can give you an advantage against the *dreaded* cutoff.

#TipsForUSTArkiFreshies Part 3: Life As An Architecture Student

Hey guys! So the last leg of my Arki Freshmen Tips is here! Since I'm done talking about the stuff you'll be encountering on your first year, I'm wrapping up my guide with these tips to eliminate any misunderstood notions about your first year as an architecture student. A myth-busting of sorts. Haha!

Anyways, if anything, I think this is the most important part of the series because these are the things you really need to know and so that you know the reality of what you're getting into. For UST students, if you've had your orientation already, then a lot of you must scared out of your minds right now. Haha! That's definitely how it was for me. The orientation felt more like a session full of plain old threats discouraging you from this course.

With that being said, they're doing to this so you can be absolutely sure that you can handle the very different curriculum they have in architecture. It's better to make your mind up now rather than later because shifting nowadays in UST is almost impossible. Rest assured, I'm here to tell you that it isn't as scary as you may think. If this is where you feel you belong, then no matter how hard things are going to get, and trust me, it will be INSANE at times, you will learn to love it!

#TipsForUSTArkiFreshies Part 2: Guide To Mediums

Continuing my Arki series with a quick guide on all the mediums you will encounter on your first year! So I'm basically going to share my experience with using them and again, I'm going to tell you now that I'm not exactly great when it comes to rendering. Haha!

Firstly, if you're like me and you grew up not used to coloring or rendering any of your random drawings then you will probably feel a bit more challenged in Visual Techniques. You're going to be surprised at how good some of your blockmates will be. Some of them will almost seem like they've been doing it professionally for some time now, it's really crazy!

Don't get me wrong, with enough practice, you can always improve. Don't ever feel pressured to be as great as some of your batchmates. That's a road you don't want to go down. Just try your best always and have fun! :)

#TipsForUSTArkiFreshies Part 1: Things You'll Really Need

I've been wanting to do a tutorial of sorts for the blog because I feel that it's becoming really boring and monotonous; what with it just hovering from personal style to travel to food. I want it to be a bit more different and a bit more fresh, which is why I've decided to share some stuff that's also a really big part of my life right now: school and architecture! I'm so excited to finally do this because I think it'd be a big help to the incoming freshmen. When I was starting out, I wish I'd have found a guide to tell me about what I really needed and I figured why not make one for whoever needs it?

So I've decided to start a really short series about what I feel every architecture freshman should know; whether you're Thomasian or otherwise! This is all totally based on my experience as a freshman not too long ago. :)

Just a quick disclaimer though: I'm not saying I'm the expert or anything remotely similar to that, but I just wanted to share a few tips that I think are going to be really helpful.

Of course, this first tutorial pretty much covers what you'll be needing for your major subjects which are:

1. Architectural Design (AD) - This is where you get to unleash your creativity because it's where you really design.
2. Graphics (GR) - Graphics is all about the technical stuff and the things you really need to know. Here, it's all about learning the right way to draft and the different tricks every architect sure know. In short, this is manual mechanical drawing.
3. Visual Techniques (VT) - This is the class where you learn how to make things pretty. LOL I know it's a funny description but that sums it up. Here, you learn how to render/color your drawings. You start with the most basic which is pencil shading. And I will have a totally separate post about my experience with the different mediums and a few tips about them. :D
