Philadelphia 2018 Part 4 | Independence National Historical Park & Penn's Landing

Before continuing onto the next attraction, we decided to grab some lunch at one of Philadelphia's most popular food spots!

The Reading Terminal Market! It's located under a bridge and is basically a giant food court with an actual supermarket with a ton of choices for you to try!

The variety here is pretty crazy. You can find classics like cheese steak to a bunch of bakeries and different types of sweets!

There's an actual supermarket where we picked up some Wildflower Honey because it looked so nice and organic haha!

After walking around and checking out our options, we decided to go with By George because they had such a cool display lol

We ordered an Italian Sausage Pizza as well as the Chicken Barbeque. Super good because *pizza is life* however I will say you can easily eat something of the same quality at restaurants here in Manila! You can't beat American serving sizes though. Haha!

We also ordered a Cheese Steak but I didn't really feel the cheese in this one because there was just so much beef... Still good but I definitely liked the one at Steve's in Market Street way more.

After lunch, we took a bus to the Independence National Historical Park where the historical sites were clumped into one area. The building above is the government building where the Declaration of Independence was debated!

There is definitely no shortage here of tours for both tourists and locals. The guides are also quite animated. No surprise for a place that's called, "America's Most Historic Square Mile."

Across the Independence Hall is the Liberty Bell Center. Here, you can go in for free to see the Liberty Bell.

In the distance, you can see the National Constitution Center. We didn't go here though as we didn't have enough time.

We started with the Liberty Bell Hall because you mostly just drop by to see the bell and then leave.

At the end before you exit is the Liberty Bell - beautifully framed against the Independence Hall.

We then joined the last tour for the actual Independence Hall administered by the Parks & Recreation staff of Philadelphia.

You are first given a brief history lesson at the East Wing before being brought to the actual hall where the Declaration of Independence was debated.

We were brought to two main halls that were across from each other. The first was an actual courtroom.

The second one was for a more informal setting.

After the history lesson, we dropped by Penn's Landing to see what it was like.

From afar, you can already see the bayside attraction. Very reminiscent of the idea behind Coney Island's Boardwalk.

Again, none of us were in a carnival type of mood so we decided to skip it after taking a quick look. We opted to go back to Market Street to do some shopping!

We grabbed dinner at a vegan place called Hip City Veg.

The Arugula Taco Salad had a mix of black beans, organic grilled corn, pico de gallo, tortillas, avocado, & silantro dressing. This salad was lightly creamy with a good Mexican flavor with the nice blend of spices. As always, the nuttiness of Arugula is my favorite part of any salad.

The Philly Steak Sandwich was also pretty straightforward; in that it's crisp and flavorful. Hard to believe this was vegan though! Still, Steve's wins with the best Cheese Steak. Haha!

For drinks, I got the Organic Kale Lemonade. Really refreshing given the hot weather! Nothing too special though. Essentially green lemonade. Haha!

The next morning, we got up a bit early to catch our bus to DC. I took a quick visit to the deck of our AirBnB and caught a photo of the gorgeous view!

Once we got to the station, we decided to grab some breakfast.

We settled with a place called Beck's Cajun Cafe where I ordered the Shrimp, Eggs, and Cheese Po-Boy which was absolutely DELICIOUS. I didn't expect for it to be because I've never really had a meal that I loved at places like an airport or a train/bus station. Really enjoyed this with hot sauce. Super creamy and balanced and all sorts of delicious. Haha!

Aaaand that wraps up my Philadelphia blog posts! Next up, Washington, D.C.!
