Cebu 2014: Part 2

We went on to the next island to have lunch. It was actually owned by a Japanese family who must've acquired possession of it since the Japanese era, I'm not really sure. When we got off the boat, we had to pass through a small village, albeit not a very pleasant experience. It was a good 5 minute walk to get to the other side of the island where our lunch was prepared.

 

When we arrived they served our lunches immediately. Sadly, the food they served was regrettably bad and overcooked. It was this assortment of barbequed chicken and seafood and nothing tasted fresh or good. Also, there were flies which made the meal all the more unenjoyable. :(

At the side you can see a few booths selling cheap souvenirs and pearl jewelry which I didn't check for authenticity.

You can specially order a few dishes where they cook freshly caught seafood and my dad ordered abalone to be grilled and it was the only thing that tasted fantastic to be honest.

The beach in this island is okay but the shores aren't exactly clean. You're better off swimming in Nalusuan and other islands.

After lunch, it was time to go back to Shangri-La.

Since it was low tide, we had to ride a small motor boat to get back to our big boat in the middle of the sea. They do this because if the big boat docks in the island during low tide, it'll be incredibly difficult to sail again.

We took the entire afternoon to rest and swim some more in the resort and then had dinner in another area at the Shangri-La. This was their outdoor restaurant.

Needless to say, the food selection was excellent. Here, they focused more on Filipino cuisine such as these barbequed seafood.

While eating, in-house entertainers presented an entire show depicting the different traditional dances of the different ethnic groups of the Philippines.

Early morning watching the Food Channel because it seems to be the only types of shows I like to watch on TV nowadays. I'm not really sure why LOL.

Anyways, it was our last day so we thought to wrap up the other attractions before heading to the airport.

The last place we visited was the Yellow Submarine attraction also in Mactan.

We headed here to wait for our turn to get on the motor boat that will take us to the submarine.

They also have a beach where you can enjoy the water.

Our guides with us as well as the Korean businessman who manages the resort.

We switched boats and got onto a much bigger one because it's where you go to get to the submarine.

Which is parked just right beside it LOL. You can have your pictures taken by their photographer and they'll print it and put it in a fancy frame with a certificate, but for a fee, of course.

The ladder down is really fun but a bit nerve-wracking for the older people that were there with us.

Now in the submarine. Feels almost like a futuristic escape pod. Haha!

As the boat started to sink, fish started to appear all around the submarine. The experience just takes you 40 meters in the sea so you can see the corals as well as a few schools of fish.

Overall, the experience was a tad disappointing but I still enjoyed it a lot because I got to ride a cool submarine! :D

Afterwards, it was time to say goodbye to Mactan, and we were on our way to the airport.

The last thing I ate in Cebu was this Kimchi Fried Rice with Lechon from Zubuchon in the airport. It's one of those so-much-rice-so-little-pork kind of dish. But it was good but not really too filling. The classic lechon with rice combo is a lot more worth your money and also has bigger portions.

I had so much fun in Mactan. Mostly because, staying at the Mactan Shangri-La resort was nothing short of AMAZING. I have a post dedicated to that and will be posting it soon! :)

Officially, I am now on vacation and I hope I can get back to focusing more on the blog!
