There’s really just one thing you can’t take away from ANY of my trips out of town: Shopping! And Zamboanga’s no exception. Haha!
On our third day, we pretty much covered everything so our guide brought us to the famous barter market! As nervous as I was about the word, “barter”, I was immediately relieved to know you could use normal currency here. LOL if you ever travel to Zamboanga, this would be the best place to go crazy with souvenirs and the like!
If there’s Yakan, then there’s also Batik which is Indonesia’s cultural hand-printed fabric! Again, print-addicts, brace yourselves!
They sell a range of stuff, from beautifully made home decor to my favorite…
BAGS! I was quite pleasantly surprised upon seeing these because I thought it was a really smart way to use Batik and Yakan. And mind you, these are not just totes and all the common styles. From what I’m seeing, I’m definitely sensing much inspiration haling from the greats such as Louis Vuitton, and I’m not even kidding. Keep scrolling to see more! LOL
The interior of the market is even more maze-like and with cascades of shimmery and intricate prints all around you, it’s a tad overwhelming! (Also, I spy Bob Marley! LOL)
Unfortunately though, since it was Easter, most stores were closed for the holidays. Literally 10% of the market was open so we didn’t get to look around as much as we would’ve liked. Still, I managed to find the most awesome printed bag! Can’t wait to show it in one of my outfit posts soon!
And here are the said LV-inspired bags! Haha! Ladies, I think you’ll be very happy here since the prices are ridiculously cheap! For the guys looking for unique sling bags, you’re bound to go nuts trying to figure out the ones that you like best!
After shopping, we decided to end our final day at Paseo del Mar. Also, just my luck that we arrived during the Golden Hour! Talk about picture perfect!
Paseo del Mar also has this awesome dancing fountains that’ll put on a show at night. Be sure to check the schedule when you pass by! :)
And here is one of Paseo del Mar’s attractions: the Badjaos. Basically, people get to watch the Badjaos dive into the water just to catch the coins people throw at them. Of course, I couldn’t partake in this. I guess let them do what they want to do? :
Moving on, this was the perfect place to end the day. It’s all quite reminiscent of the famous Manila Bay. Only cleaner. LOL.
Of course, after taking pictures, it was time to get some grub, and there’s definitely plenty of restaurants to choose from! In the end, we decided to dine at Palmeras’s branch there mostly because we wanted more KnickerBocker! Hahaha!
And so I ate Dinuguan (Pork Blood Stew. I know it sounds rather morbid but I promise you, it’s one of the best tasting dishes ever. EVER. Haha!) with the glorious view of the sunset with family.
The very next day we left for the airport really really early and that’s pretty much it for my Zamboanga experience!
Outfit posts to come! Happy Mother’s Day, everyone! :D
