Singapore 2012: Sentosa

I guess you can never go to Singapore without exploring the wonder that is Sentosa! It’s basically the country’s center for pure fun, what with Universal Studios and Resorts World being there. This place is definitely a haven for the young at heart!

You actually have an option to ride a cable car to the island to see both of Singapore’s city as well as Sentosa. Sadly though, the ride is a teeny bit dizzying if you look down too much. LOL If you’re not up for that though, you can just as easily go to Sentosa by car.

Now, we finally arrive at Resorts World!

The place is like one beautiful park! From the water from the fountains to the gleaming pavement, it’s hard not to feel festive with so much prettiness to take in!

We went up the Merlion Tower which is basically just a brief hike up to the top to see the view of Sentosa, as you will see in the photos below.

Anyways, we continued on with the park after we got down from the tower. To transfer from one main area to the other, you had to take a train that reminded me of the Philippines’ light rail transit! Haha!

The next stop is the main plaza where you can eat at various high-end restaurants (Because, hello, Resorts World! LOL), go to Universal Studios (Which I have a totally separate post for.), or visit the Aquarium!

I was a bit thrown off when we entered the Aquarium, because I expected to see a million school of fish upon entering. Before the main attraction, they had this little exhibit of different Asian artifacts (Hence the gigantic boat and the elaborate setting.) before going down a level to the Aquarium.

The last surprise of the day: An incredibly long line to the Aquarium! This was probably one of the things I disliked the most about the day. You literally had to line up for an hour and a half just to get in. Thank goodness though that I was with my siblings and cousins so that really helped pass the time!

When you enter the aquarium, you’re going to see the usual aquarium stuff; the dim lighting, the different pretty and interesting species of underwater life, but it was definitely disappointing that it was all that you got after waiting so long and walking so far. My opinion: It’s definitely something you can exchange for another touring location, sadly.

Finally, we ended our first day at Sentosa with dinner at this really cool food court at Resorts World that imitated the busy streets of Malaysia. If you’re looking for more budget-friendly and very filling meals, this is definitely the place to be!
