Taiwan 2017 Part 3 | Yehliu Geo Park & Yi Lan i-Cake Museum

We continued onto the Yehliu Geopark which is famous for its natural rock formations. It was funny because I had already visited here when I studied for a summer in Taiwan but completely forgot because touring around Taiwan is such a whirlwind because you're constantly getting whisked away to the next location.

If you're visiting during a cooler time in Taiwan, expect for it to be cooler and windy in Yehliu Geo Park since it's near the sea.

At the earlier parts of the park, the replicas of the rock formations can be seen. This one is the replica of the Princess formation. I'm guessing they did this for older people who didn't want to walk the whole park - which is understandable because the place is gigantic and hard to walk because of the slopes and rocks.

The main park.

The view of the Mushroom formations from the starting area of the park.
As you can see, the Geopark isn't exactly the easiest to traverse.

The Gorilla formation!

Pineapple Bun formation.

Mushroom formation up close.

And the main attraction - The Queen's Head. I didn't get close because there was a giant line of people waiting to have their photos taken with it.

The formation on the center of the photo is the Fairy Slipper. Can't really get close to it because it's past the restricted zone.

Dragon's Head!

Our first stop the next morning was the YiLan i-Cake Museum which is basically your typical souvenir food factory where you can buy special delicacies. Stores like this are really popular in Asia where they're just sort of in the middle of nowhere and you can buy tons of cakes and snacks.

We didn't really visit the "museum" part but I did see a workshop happening on the upper floors.

Small Pineapple Cakes are probably the most common and the most delicious out of the usual souvenir foods. They're buttery and fruity and very hard not to like!

The Cheese Cakes are also quite good! Fluffy, flaky, and lightly creamy! One of the most memorable purchases here.

You can also get Fruit Teas here which double as jams if you prefer to eat them without mixing in any extra water. I prefer them as beverages though!

As we were leaving, a class of preschoolers were having their field trip here!

We then stopped by the Kili Bay Milk Tea Museum for some Milk Tea!

I didn't think we'd visit such a place which was refreshing. We didn't get to explore the museum part though since it was sort of an impromtu decision.

They're particularly famous for serving their milk teas in Light Bulb jars.

The serving is really quite generous and if you decide to do takeout when you can't finish your drink, they refill it when they transfer to a non-glass container.

Ending this post with a photo of our lunch!

Stay tuned for more! :)
