Hong Kong 2013: Ho Hung Kee

You can’t go to Hong Kong and not have all sorts of Chinese food! I mean, aside from being one of the biggest shopping countries in Asia, you cannot NOT include food into your travel equation every time you go there. Luckily enough, my dad’s friends who are regulars in Hong Kong brought us to a building in Causeway Bay to try Ho Hung Kee which is famous for just that! :)

Definitely one of the prettiest restaurants I’ve come across so far! The mint lanterns are just lovely and the pretty gold flowers on the wall are just so sosyal beyond words. LOL

First up was their famous Wanton Noodles! Although I would love to say how special it is, it sadly doesn’t really feel any different from the ones I’ve had here in local Chinese restaurants. I guess there really is just one way to enjoy Wanton noodles, but I can’t say I can complain! :)

Because vegetable and meat stir-fry is always relevant in a Chinese meal.

Their Hainanese chicken, on the other hand, has got be one of the softest I’ve had! The saltiness was spot on and the sauces worked really well with it.

For dessert, we had these really interesting buns that were one of the house specialties. They look little “siopaos,” but inside they’re literally bursting with this really cool filling made of salted egg and butter and all sorts of yummy stuff!

The inside of the bun. I usually don’t like this kind of bread but the filling made it all so great!

Ho Hung Kee is located at Causeway Bay.
