Last post as this was supposed to be posted last Friday, but because of Graphics homework, I couldn’t find the time! Talk about priority issues. Huhuhu
Anywho, the Marriott Cafe was the first place we ate at upon our arrival in HK, because my dad’s friend could not praise this place enough for their buffet selection, and surely enough, she was right! It is the Marriott, after all. :)
A gallery of expensive wines greet you before you enter the cafe itself.
The Marriott Cafe is not too vast compared to hotel buffets here in Manila but it isn’t really a bad thing as the view is just so pretty because you’re going to be on a terrace with lots of lighting from the humungous windows.
The classic Chinese dishes such as sweet and sour pork, stir fried veggies, and roasted duck are all really lovely. There aren’t too many choices available which is fine because it’d just be sad if we couldn’t try everything, right?
There’s a really cool noodle station where you can basically choose the kind of noodles, mushrooms, and veggies that you want to put in your noodle soup dish!
One of my favorites has to be the Curries/Soups section. Other than the chips at the side, I really really loved their lamb curry which was just so tender and delicious!
Smoked goodies are also available for gorging. :D
Fresh seafood lovers’ paradise. There are even snails and they were fine, I guess but I enjoyed the smoked salmon a lot more. Would you try the snails?
Can’t have a buffet without sushi.
Another favorite is the Dessert section. Usually hotel buffets have very ordinary desserts which is sad because they’re almost always the ones that leave the least impact. I’m so glad the Marriott Hotel isn’t one of those hotels because they do not fall short on dessert. Plus, their ice cream is Haagen Dazs! How cool is that?
The dish to beat is definitely their Green Tea Panna Cotta. The green tea flavor has so much depth, it really leaves a smile on your face! :)
Bread, olives, and cheeses, anyone?
I thoroughly enjoyed my Marriott Cafe experience, and their Manila branch doesn’t fall short at all! I went there just last week and was also quite impressed with their selection. However, the desserts and the seafood of the Marriott HK is still a lot better. Regardless though, if you’re looking for the same experience, the Marriott Hotel near Resorts World is pretty awesome too! :D
The Marriott Cafe can be reached via MTR to Admiralty Station and is directly connected to the Pacific Place Shopping Mall.
