Omakase

I don’t think there’ll ever come a time that I’ll find myself tired of Japanese food. It’s just too amazing to stay away from that it’s not even funny. (Seriously, I WORSHIP Japanese food. LOL)

This is also why I’m so excited to share with you my all-time favorite place: Omakase! I’m sure this place needs no introduction to all the Japanese food buffs out there, but if you haven’t heard of it yet, then I suggest you read on and find out! Haha!

I’ve already been to Omakase a few times already; all of them at their Greenhills branch, which is just so far from where I live! That’s why I was so elated when I found out there was a branch in Il Terrazzo at Tomas Morato which was considerably closer. :D

And when we visited, I finally decided it was high-time I reviewed the place!

As you can see, Omakase’s interiors are simple and minimalistic with pops of color here and there. Nothing confusing here, just a great place to enjoy some Japanese grub!

Omakase’s food is of the usual Japanese food price range. Definitely affordable!

First up was their Spicy Tuna Salad. This is probably the ONE dish that my family always ALWAYS orders whenever we’d go to a Japanese restaurant, and I can’t say I’m tired of it, because it is just so good! It’s actually made of cubed tuna sashimi, tempura breading, a little lettuce, and a secret spicy mayo sauce that really makes everything so freaking perfect! I also love that they serve it as a heaping mountain of tuna instead of mostly lettuce which is what other joints do with their Spicy Tuna.

Mix sashimi is also something you can’t take out of the Japanese experience. My favorite is the Sea Urchin! Theirs is particularly sweet and a bit refreshing, actually!

This is the Scorpion Roll. One of the many things that I absolutely LOVE about Omakase has always been their wide selection of rolls. I swear, they’re unlike any other! And every variation I’ve tried is like a party in my mouth. A lot of them are dipped in a secret mayo sauce which just makes everything all the more perfect. This one was no exception!

Next are assorted Temakis! Temakis are basically cone shaped sushi rolls, but instead of just plain rice inside, Omakase’s take has a little Japanese mayo that made it about ten times better. If you’re going to have this, I recommend that you get it in just soft-shell crab variation because IT IS JUST SO AWESOME! (Read on to see why I love it so much) Why just have one when you can have three? LOL #MedyoBaboy 

This is Jurassic roll. This one doesn’t disappoint either. This one has an added crunch courtesy of the Unagi (Eel) on the top. Dipped in mayo sauce, it is so so great. I can’t even-

We also had the Oyster Butteryaki. These are oysters seasoned to perfection, baked (I think), and served with their special vinegar sauce. Not my favorite but it was really great too!

And this is the soft-shell crab. If you ever go to Omakase, YOU MUST HAVE THIS. I can’t stress enough how much I love this dish. I think it may be one of the best things I’ve ever had in my life and I don’t even like crab that much. IT’S THAT GOOD. Notice the all-caps? I just love it that much. LOL You can literally bite into the shell and enjoy! What comes after is an experience like no other. Not. Even. Kidding.

Stir-fried vegetables with a little meat. With all the immensely flavorful food around it was nice to something that wasn’t complicated with the flavors. The buttery flavor stood out but I love the smoky taste as well!

Steak Tofu was another one of my favorites. Though it’s not as sumptuous as the others, the meat and the tofu work so well together!

And lastly, the grilled salmon, because my dad loves salmon so much. LOL Again, the salmon alone was already good, but with the vinegar, sublime. The stir-fried beans were a great side to the fish!

Omakase is definitely my favorite Japanese restaurant TO DATE. It has never disappointed, and the prices are good, as well. Plus, the food! Writing this post literally made my mouth water! This place is a must-try, I tell you. 10 out of 5 stars! LOL
