Mu Noodle Bar

I’m going to try my best to keep up with my promise so here’s yet another food review for all you foodies out there!

A couple of weeks ago on a family trip to Glorietta, we decided to check out the new-and-improved extension of the already-huge mall to see what was in store in terms of food. (The shopping experience is whole other thing to behold. Let’s just say I could just stay and shop there forever. Hahaha!)

We were immediately drawn to this dark little restaurant and as soon as my sister read the word, “Noodle,” she was pretty much sold. Mu Noodle Bar definitely stood out ironically amidst the brightly-lit places that surround it. By doing the opposite of what the other stores wanted to achieve, a LOT of customers were sucked in by its cool-and-mysterious vibe.

The interiors are incredibly calming to the eyes. No harshness at all. This was definitely a place to relax and enjoy food.

Our first dish was some tofu topped with Century egg, Pork floss, and drizzled with a thick sweet sauce. I like how they tried to achieve a “gourmet” effect with the presentation, but the lack of moisture got in the way.

One of the dishes I enjoyed the most is definitely their noodles, because a restaurant isn’t a restaurant if their specialty isn’t good. LOL Thank you, Captain Obvious. Hahaha! (Stopping my weirdness right now.)

The noodles we ordered was a lovely mix of a semi-clear beef broth, fatty chunks of beef, as well as what I’m guessing is baby spinach? Not really sure what the greens are but they were a good addition in terms of presentation and most definitely, taste.

My family makes it a habit to have vegetable wherever we eat, which is why my dad ordered a platter of stir-fried veggies. I was a bit surprised, though, to find that its flavor lacked the traditional impression Chinese restaurants usually achieve with their vegetable dishes.

Next up are braised pork slices in a sweet sauce. In their version, you put it in the bread and spread on a little mustard and a sprinkle of pork floss. This was one of the better dishes of the night, but the serving is a little too small for a family of six.

My favorite is the sweet-and-spicy pork, because who doesn’t love fried pork loin? This is your run-of-the-mill awesome Chinese meat dish. I say this because though it tastes incredibly good, I can’t say it beats any other versions I’ve tasted.

My verdict: Mu Noodle Bar is far above from being a mediocre restaurant, that’s for sure, but I wasn’t too impressed with the food. If ever I do return here, I’d probably try their other noodle dishes because they were quite good. My advice is to probably just have their noodles whenever you feel like it, and just go to your favorite Chinese restaurant if you’re one to savor your Yang Chow Fried Rice with the Classic Black Pepper Fried Spareribs. (Thinking about it just makes my mouth water. GAH.)

Mu Noodle Bar is located at the 2nd Floor of the New Glorietta/Glorietta 2, Ayala Center, Makati City.
