Vikings

About a month ago, I finally had the pleasure of trying the much-raved buffet that is Vikings! And when it first opened at The Mall of Asia, it was almost impossible to eat there because of the throngs of people that wanted to do the same. At least, that’s what I heard from others.

Anyways, not being a “buffet-loving” people, my family never really got around to trying it which is why I was pretty excited when my class decided to have little get-together here!

Vikings is located at SM’s bayside. If you’re from the mall, it’s a bit of a long walk, and in this heat, it’s torture, I tell you! *Cringes* When my friends and I arrived, we were so so relieved! LOL

To be honest, I expected a full-on vikings/medieval set-up going on, what with the restaurant’s name and all, but I was greeted by an incredibly posh interior. If you didn’t know where you were, you’d think you were in a place like The Hyatt!

So enough about that, let’s get to the food!

image

The first thing we tackled was Asian cuisine! I have a great weakness to sushi so this was most definitely great to see! I love that they made a separate set of sashimi as well as sushi. Some people prefer their raw fish with rice, and some don’t so this is a big plus!

Aside from the classic sushi and sashimi, Vikings also offers a variety of their original maki creations that are yummy beyond words! I can definitely imagine myself going here just for the Japanese grub!!

Just beside the sushi is the Chinese food! There’s a nice array of dimsum to choose from. (Which I also love dearly!) Unfortunately, my small food capacity didn’t allow for me to taste these beauties. Next time, my lovelies, next time. :(

At the end of this table is a small selection of classic Chinese soups that really remind me of the ones I enjoy at home! Incredibly authentic!

Vikings has a surprisingly large salad bar. I really love that they have little guides tastefully posted on the table so you can make different kinds of salads in the styles of different cultures! Very very cool!

The Western food section offers lots of scrumptious treats mainly consisting of meat! Unfortunately, the amount of Japanese food I had left me to decide to skip this section because I felt I was almost full! So at this time, I really had to choose wisely. Hahaha!

Something I was also really happy to see was their grilling section. Basically, this section followed the famous style of bayside restaurants which we call here in the Philippines, “Paluto.” You pick the fresh seafood that you want and have them expertly grill it for you! Aaaand!! They deliver it straight to your table! :D

My favorite was definitely the steak section, because let’s face it, what meat-eater doesn’t love steak? IT. IS. AWESOME. When you enter this part of the restaurant, you first see more traditionally served dishes such as lechon! Other cool dishes like roasted turkey with cranberry sauce is a must-try as well, but when you continue on, it’s when it actually gets really cool. Australian lamb and Batangas beef!! This is definitely the time to attack as these are the yummiest dishes here! For me, at least! LOL

Lastly, when you’re done stuffing yourself with all the awesome entrees, there’s also a dessert bar that’s sure to satisfy any sweet tooth! Just look at the crowd swarming over everything! You can barely see the food!

There are pastries, frozen yoghurt, ice cream, crepes, cakes, and so many other things, it’s almost scary! Hahaha!

On another note, drinks are also unlimited here in Vikings so never worry about being thirsty. From soda to beer to even English tea, they have it ALL!

If you’re ever in the mood to go all-out, Vikings is a definite go-to. I suggest, though, that you visit during the weekdays as the buffet rates are profusely cheaper. Other than that though, you better prepare yourself for a feast that’s quite quite grand. :D

Vikings is located at Building B, By The Bay, Seaside Blvd. SM Mall of Asia Complex, 1234 Pasay City. They also have a branch open at SM North EDSA!
