Happy Chinese New Year, everyone! It’s finally that time of the year again when all the Chinese festivities practically explode around town. (Not just Chinatown!) And everyone’s just so eager to watch the fireworks that don the late night sky. Don’t you just love days like this?
To commemorate the occasion, our school started this tradition last year to have something called a “Wash Day” (Personally, I think it’s just a fancy way of saying, “Casual Friday.” Haha!) where we get to wear normal clothes instead of our drab uniforms, but of course, there’s a theme to be followed. In today’s case, that would be to wear red, because it’s practically a prerequisite for us Chinese to wear red for luck and prosperity!
Sweater from Oxygen, Pants from Zara, Boots from ALDO, Socks from Uniqlo, Watch from Tomato Time, Bracelet & iPhone Case from SM Accessories.
Compared to last year’s outfit, I definitely felt that I really got a handle on my outfit this year, and I absolutely love everything in it! With all the inspiration I got from other bloggers, it was as if I already knew what to do!
For this look, I grabbed inspiration from one of my idols, Mr. David Guison! But unlike the last time, I used a more subtle approach: the socks! (Sadly, you can’t see it very clearly here in this photo.) I’ve been dying to try this little style technique forever! I always thought it was such a clever thing to do and it adds so much character to an outfit!
I fell in love with this shirt the first time I saw it at Oxygen. Despite it being a bit too big on me, the comfort it gives me is top notch. I never have to worry about any wardrobe fails EVER. Plus, I love how there’s the lovely nautical vibe, and the stripes alternate from bright red, to red orange, to navy blue, and then to black. What an awesome combination!
Red and gray Cocoon case to match my top! It was as if they came in a set, but it really was just luck. You see, my dad gave me this case when he passed his iPhone down to me, and since then, it’s been one of my absolute favorites!
HERE ARE THE SOCKS! Are they not so cute? And I think the red is such a nice touch! Who says only your top or bottom can be red? So so glad I decided to try this when I did. It was almost always the first thing people would notice that day. LOL
Trying new things is always good. You never know when that new thing could be “The One.” Haha! BTW notice the change in photo quality yet again? That’s because these photos were taken and edited by my friend, Austin, with his Nikon D3000. Aren’t the colors so awesome and rightfully Chinese? LOL ‘til next time!
