It’s definitely hard to keep an outfit interesting especially if you’re not going to apply layers, accessories, or any other type of stuff you could add to your look. However, on that hot hot day, I really didn’t feel like accessorizing or dressing it up with a jacket or a cardigan.
Being an avid fan of Tricia Gosingtian, I was inspired by her look called, Just G: Back To Basics, where she showcased how the simplest clothes can comprise such a nice outfit that’s so undeniably timeless, and what better way to pay tribute to her than by having the color palette of classic black and white?
Shirt from Magnum, Pants from Giordano, Sneakers from Converse.
One can never go wrong with investing in basics, because not only are they comfortable but they’re a lot like blank canvasses (Reference from Camille Co and Kryz Uy.) that you can dress up into unexpected combinations, but can also stand well on their own. You have to remember though, having a great fit is key, not doing so will cause you to look terribly sloppy and lazy, rather than effortless and put-together.
To prevent the outfit from being too formal and still keep my overall identity and style, I decided not to tuck my shirt in, making it more laid back, as well as wear classic sneakers instead of brogues or any kind of leather shoes. (Big reason is because I don’t have any other than my school shoes. Ehem ehem, dad. LOL Kidding, of course.)
I just thought the shoes were such a nice touch that really glued the entire outfit together. It possessed both black and white, and it’s style practically screamed casual. It’s definitely no surprise why Converse is one of the leading brands for footwear. It’s a freakin’ classic!
And so, that concludes my “Back to Basics” look. Gosh, I really hope I did Ms. Gosingtian some justice! Anyways, what do you think?
