4 Days of Xiamen: Day 1

I’ve been meaning to do a series for a while now but never got around to it because one, my brother is too impatient, and two, there was just no time! But now that exams are OFFICIALLY over, (Yes naman!) I finally pushed for it!

So last summer I joined this study tour to Xiamen. Since it was my last year to be eligible to join, I decided to make the most of it, and that involved a lot of shopping. Going abroad is a scarce privilege, agree? So you definitely have to grab every opportunity to enjoy yourself while you still can, and if you’re like me, that means a lot of bargain-hunting in your spare time! LOL

Joining study tours means bringing only a few clothes, because let’s face it, you can’t exactly bring your entire closet with you, can you? That’s just part of the fun! The challenge is to bring clothes that you can mix and match without people being able to point out and immediately know you repeated the exact same outfit, and that’s something that you’re definitely not going to want. So in this series post, I’ll be blogging about my favorite outfits during my long long stay in China. Let’s get started shall we?

Shirt from BLUED, Jacket from Giordano, Skinnies from Bossini, Shoes from ALDO.

Because of the cold weather, I finally got to experiment a lot with layers, thinking of a way to stay unexpected but not becoming too attention-grabbing. This outfit was actually inspired from modern Asian fashion, but the trend has been around for a long time, particularly in western countries.

The chilly climate called for outerwear, but I thought that it would just be too easy to throw on a jacket and be on your way, altogether covering the neat little details your shirt has, which I think is such a waste! So I thought, why not do the opposite: Short sleeves over long sleeves? And voila, this outfit was created, and it actually became one of many no-fail looks during my stay. All I had to do was use another long-sleeved top and I was ready to go!

This jacket from Giordano is actually one of my all-time favorites. Other than being super comfortable, it’s short sleeves allowed for it be worn here in the Philippines despite the warmer temperatures, but it was thick enough to shield me from the cold when I was still touring. Best of all, I love how it instantly adds character to any of my outfits because of the kiddy sleeves. Heck, I paired it with button-downs and it still looked absolutely fantastic!

Hello awkward pose! Sorry for the less-than-satisfactory photo. Apparently, that’s what happens when one breaks his “modeling momentum” after a week of no shooting. (Yes, more excuses from me. LOL)

Going back to my look, I topped it off with my one-and-only pair of sneaker boots from ALDO, and like my jacket, it added a lot of life to the outfit and gave it a more active vibe with its higher-than-the-norm cut and adorable metal hardware.

And that concludes my look! Stay tuned for the next day of my series post!
