Contrast

Taking a bit of a break from jeans and high-cut shoes, I went for yet another relaxed look. This time focusing on summer trends, at the same time, with a little of fall in the mix, which in my opinion is ideal for the current weather here in the Philippines. Agree or agree?

Shirt and Shorts from Uniqlo, Shoes from Coupeau Valentino (Taiwan), Sunglasses from H&M, Watch from ABBQ.

If you know me then you know about my insane love for calm colors such as neutrals and pastels, but in that hot hot day, I decided to shake up the usual style and opted for something a bit more unexpected.

Who’d have thought that mint and navy blue would go so well together? Personally though, I believe a lot of the outfit’s overall impact is from my lovely shades from H&M. I knew when I saw it in my previous study tour at Xiamen that I had to have it! It was just such a more practical alternative to the classic Ray-Bans. (Though don’t get me wrong, I still dream of owning a pair someday. Someday, Jason, someday. LOL)

But of course, I can’t take all the credit. I actually got the idea of mixing these colors up after looking at Zara's endless collection of looks that never ceases to surprise me with unexpected mixes and matches; from plains to prints, you name it! (Which is definitely why it’ll always have a place in my heart. Wehh hahaha!)

The only bump I felt I had when I was planning this outfit was my concern that the shades would come out a bit out of nowhere, because despite the high contrast in shade, blue and green are in the same color spectrum, making them unexpected complements to each other. That’s why I took out this vintage watch from a brand called, ABBQ. It’s size and “premium look” added to the “cruise” feel of the outfit, not to mention, it perfectly matched the gold and brown tones of the shades, instantly making it more put together.

And of course, who could forget my favorite overused boat shoes from Coupeau Valentino? Forgive me for using it over and over again. Can you blame me if they can go with virtually anything? That’s why I love them so much! Up to this day, I still consider it to be one of my best buys; it’s just too much of a complete package!

That’s enough of my ranting. LOL. What do you think of the contrast? A big yes or a fat no? Let me know what you think!
