Turning 21 | Old Habits

Here's a slightly delayed birthday post from me! It's so surreal that I've officially turned into an adult just yesterday and I'm still very much unsure how I feel about this. I think the worst part about taking up architecture, or any license-oriented course, is that it forces you to almost completely give up a lot of the things you love in order to make way for your studies, but more importantly, you're forced to grow up so much faster. In the rush of my 4 years in university, it makes me a bit sad to think that I had to let go of a lot of the things I used to love a lot to try and create a better balance in my life. Ultimately though, I ended up neglecting my hobbies completely because of the borderline inhumane requirements of UST Architecture. This is why I'm so glad my birthday is at the start of the new semester. No new demands just yet and just fresh off Christmas vacation.

The most comforting part about school vacations is me getting a glimpse of what my life was like before all this and I have to say how refreshing it is to be away from everything about university. I didn't miss it. Not even a little. Being home a lot, and just playing video games (Final Fantasy XV is a freaking masterpiece, you guys.) - and also watching a little Anime; to say that I felt great is an understatement. I only wish I could've traveled again at the end of last year though, but the 2016 Holiday calendar sucks for people who have to work a.k.a the rest of my family. My entire being aches to be in Japan once again. Haha!

All this coming back to my roots has also caused me to finally start wearing lighter shades once again. I'm not sure if it was the terrible university experiences or if I was just getting older, but I've never been in any real mood to reach for light shades last year until weeks back in Tagaytay. The weather is beautifully cold but I can't stress enough how awful the car trip from Manila is. I'm constantly reminded how I could've traveled to the airport and flown to Taiwan *and back* in that span of time. Yup, it's that bad. Moving on, I'm still currently obsessed with lace-up details on clothes - basically living my medieval JRPG fashion fantasies through these pieces. Coupled with relaxed shorts and white sneakers, they prove to be incredibly wearable!
H&M sweater, UNIQLO easy shorts, SHOOPEN sneakers.

  1. Happy belated birthday! Oh, don't worry about "adult-ing". Not everyone has figured it out. Just enjoy every step of the journey.

  2. The most important thing in growing up is enjoying each phase. You just have to appreciate the nows in order to make the most of the situation.

  3. Congratulations dear... Capricorn? Haha, no worries, everyone passes this phase and time is still ticking non-stop! Just remember, you only live once! So live it to the fullest!
