The last of my ramen reviews come in the form of this little slice of Japan located in Makati! Ugh, I swear, everything seems to be in this city and it makes me wish I lived in the area!
Anywho, I heard of Mitsuyado Sei-Men mostly from all the bloggers that I follow on Instagram and even my sister talked about it a lot, which definitely meant it was definitely a must-try at least once in our lives. LOL
Surprisingly from the outside, the place looks rather small but I love the distinctive wooden signage that almost beckons Japanese food-enthusiasts to come and try their food. It reminds me so much of all the ramen places I see in the animes I’ve watched recently. (Yes, I seem to be coming back to that phase in my life nowadays, and I couldn’t be happier! Anime is always so awesooooome.) :D
You’re going to find yourself in a bit of a surprise once you enter, because it feels like you’ve literally been transported to downtown Japan where all the cool stuff happens and where all the good food just never seems to run out! I’ve only been to Fukuoka for a day but I could definitely feel the vibes through this place!
Mitsuyado Sei-Men specializes in Tsukemen which is a type of ramen that serves the soup and the ramen separately. Being famous for their Cheese Tsukemen, it was pretty obvious what any first-timer should try! If you’re willing to go the extra mile though, Mitsuyado is more famous for the “double cheese” variation which I plan to try the next time I come. :) (My poor metabolism can only take so much! LOL)
You first pour the cheese sauce onto the noodles and mix it like you would with any regular pasta. Afterwards, you dip it into the soup and enjoy!
Hands down, this ramen was the most unique I’ve ever tasted. The cheese is surprisingly tame; more creamy than salty, and it just adds the right amount of dimension to the flavor of your noodles. Dipped in the soup, you will be surprised at the amount of taste that is added. The soup has this smoky sour, salty kick that causes a party in your mouth and creates an unexpectedly harmonious flavor with the cheese!
Still, you can’t really compare it to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka or Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen as these two do not have the same specialty. It’s really going to depend on your mood, but I daresay that you can’t really go wrong with any of them!
Aaaaand that pretty much concludes my ramen chronicles! Hope you learned something from all of this! ‘Til next time! :)
