Malaysia 2012: Sunway Lagoon

The next stop of our Malaysia trip was the famous Sunway Lagoon Amusement Park! I was probably the most bummed about the fact that the travel agency didn’t advise us to bring swimwear since there was this HUMUNGOUS water park inside! It still makes me sad just thinking about it! Oh well, at least I got to fully experience the other amenities, and that definitely includes shopping at the Sunway Pyramid Mall just across the entrance!

These are just some of the rides that we got to see since we were only given a few hours to check out the place. I was most definitely shocked to find out that their Anchors Away ride spun up to a full 360! Now that’s pretty insane! The Lost City of Gold, on the other hand, is the perfect appetizer to the many many rides that Sunway Lagoon has to offer, but you have to be ready to get wet if it comes to that point! LOL Sadly, we didn’t go to the water rides since we weren’t ready to get wet and we were direly unprepared. Awwww

This is their famous water park. The area was too large to be captured, so I just settled with the nicer views. Did you know that Quiksilver, the surfing brand, had a large booth there that simulated surfing waves? Now, that was pretty darn amazing! It’s probably the one thing that I regret not trying the most!

After the water park is the Extreme area where you can practice your archery skills with real professional-grade bows and arrows, as well as ride go-karts. I probably had the most fun in this area, which is also the reason why I didn’t get to take photos because I was so busy trying the stuff out! LOL

When noon struck, we transferred to the Sunway Pyramid Mall through a thoughtfully-made exit near the water park area. It definitely beats having to go all the way back to the entrance and walking across to the mall! (Hahaha I know, I’m so lazy, but it was seriously convenient!) On the bottom level, there’s a huge skating rink for ice skating enthusiasts! As for shopping, the mall has most of your favorite stores but their Forever 21 sadly doesn’t have a men’s section. Can you hear my heart breaking? LOL

After shopping, we finally got to try the ever-famous J. Co Donuts! If you’re from the Philippines then you know that getting J. Co Donuts is pretty much impossible. Every time I pass by a cafe, the queues are always overwhelmingly long! That’s why when we saw the store at Kuala Lumpur with no line at all, my siblings and I finally tried the yummy treat that is their world-famous donuts!

Here are the exterior views of Sunway Pyramid Mall. As you can see, they weren’t kidding when they said it had Egyptian-inspired architecture. The back of the lion on the left photo is actually a huge pyramid!

We were then brought to the King’s Palace, also known as Istana Negara. Here, you’re greeted with an unbelievable view of a gigantic estate farther than the eye can see, and of course, the King’s too-huge-for-words palace!

The National Monuments were our next few stops. Here, the soldiers who fought for their freedom were honored by this humungous pillar.

A lot of it really reminded me of the Philippines’s Luneta or Rizal Park, only it was so much more ethereal and amazingly well-maintained.

The next monument was a political building of sorts. I don’t really remember it but I definitely remember admiring the architecture! It was this amazing mix of Mosque and European methods!

Our last stop for the day was Beryl’s Chocolate Kingdom. Apparently, Beryl’s is one of Malaysia’s and Singapore’s pioneering chocolate companies. The sell an impossible wide variety of chocolates; from the simplest plain premium chocolate bars to different fruit-filled delicacies! They’re specialty is their Durian chocolate, but I couldn’t take the smell so I just asked my dad to buy their Chilli Chocolate which was orgasmically good! This, I promise is a must-buy! I’ll probably try the Durian one next time, though! Just not today! Haha!
