Hello, first-ever travel post! This is probably one of the posts that I’m really excited to share with you, guys! Recently, my family and I went to Malaysia and Singapore for the holidays. Aside from a few outfit shots I took there with the help of my sister, Clarisse, I also went crazy with my iPod Touch and used Instagram to document my travels in the short time we were there! With the iTouch’s superb camera and Instagram’s kick-ass image editor, I actually had a lot of fun, which is why I can’t fit all my travel photos in one post, honestly. Trust me, there are going to be a LOT more! Haha!
So our trip started with a direct flight to Singapore’s award-winning Changi Airport! They weren’t lying when they said they had almost everything there; a spa, a million shops, topnotch restaurants, gift shops, you name it! Since the Singapore tour was for the latter days of the tour, we were brought to Malaysian immigration to begin our incredibly long road trip to Malacca, Malaysia. The trip took 5 hours flat and consumed almost the entire day, but I guess that’s what you get for tackling two countries in one tour! LOL
The sky was still this bright at 6:53pm, unbelievably! I wish it was like this in the Philippines! On the right is the night market our tour guide brought us to have dinner upon reaching Malacca.
My sister and I ordered Curry Laksa (Must try!), Roast Chicken, Oyster Omelettes, and Milk Teas! Of course, we shared though, neither of us had the stomach to eat much that day, strangely.
The very next day, we were taken to a national park. It really reminded of Philippines’s Fort Santiago because a lot of Malaysia’s history transpired here. Mostly political buildings and war forts. On the right is the leaves of a Malacca Tree!
On a higher area of the national park is the monument of St. Francis Xavier. Malaysia was once colonized by the English which is why Christianism is also a major factor there. Notice that he’s missing his right hand? The sculptor that built it actually gave it complete body parts, but a storm destroyed it by uprooting a tree that eventually took the hand. The coincidence was that the original St. Xavier also didn’t have a right hand because the pope had demanded it be cut off because of a misunderstanding, I think. I’m not really sure about the story anymore.
Following the trail downward, we were brought to a little plaza where I took these dramatic pictures! Hahaha!
The tour guide also insisted that we checked out Malacca’s Chinatown because of the different types of cool stuff there.
I found these funny/witty writings outside a modern arts store. I really wanted to check it out more because of these, but my tour group was already walking away as soon as I snapped these photos!
We also passed by this lovely little temple for brief prayers and went on our way to Putrajaya, the garden city, and trust me, they weren’t lying with that tagline. I wish I was able to take more photos of the city but the bus was traveling too fast.
Next, we were brought to this gorgeous park where political buildings and a beautiful mosque was built adjacent to. On the center of the park stands 13 flags in a perfect circle with the Malaysian flag in the center. This signified the unification of the 13 states to complete Malaysia.
We walked to the bay which was just a 10-minute walk away from the park. From there, you could see a fantastic panorama of a cityscape. Sadly, I just took a picture of the cool bridge. After that, we headed to Kuala Lumpur, the Capital!
Our last visit for the day are the Petronas Twin Towers, well, the base, anyway. At the base of the twin towers stands Suria Kuala Lumpur City Center or Suria KLCC. If you’re looking to go crazy on luxury brands such as Chanel, Prada, and the like, this is definitely the place, but if you’re on a budget like me, I suggest checking out the Bukitbintang district in Kuala Lumpur. (Sadly, no photos, either.) The malls are more accessible and you can seriously shop here from morning to late night!
So that’s it for today! Expect a lot of look posts and travel posts! There are so many photos that I had to make separate posts for every theme park we went to, both in Malaysia and Singapore! So definitely watch out for that! Happy Sunday, everyone!
